How to Buy Bus Tickets Online: A Step-by-Step Guide

Publication date: September 23, 2026

Buying a bus ticket online takes a few minutes if you know what to check at each step. This guide explains the process in BUZ, from searching to boarding.

If you are looking for the official and updated guide to the process, consult How to Buy Bus Tickets Online with BUZ.

Step 1. Find your route

Type your home city, your destination, and the date in the search engine. BUZ shows schedules, prices, and onboard services for the available operators on that route in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

Step 2. Compare the options

Filter by time, price, or operator. Before choosing, check three things on each departure:

  • Terminal of departure and arrival: In large cities they can be different depending on the operator.
  • Duration: Two departures from the same route can take very different times.
  • Onboard services: The icons show what the operator reports (reclining seats, screen, air conditioning, bathroom, among others).

Step 3. Choose your seat and passenger details

Select your seat when it becomes available and write down the passenger's name as it appears on their official identification. A name error can cause problems when boarding.

Step 4. Consider protection for changes

During the purchase, you can add the Buz Flex protection plan, designed to give you flexibility if your plan changes. Review its terms before paying.

Step 5. Pay

BUZ accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit and debit cards. Your payment details are processed by certified third parties; BUZ does not store the full card numbers.

Step 6. Receive your ticket

Your electronic ticket arrives in your email, usually within 5 to 10 minutes. If you don't see it, check the spam folder and confirm that you entered your email correctly. If it still doesn't arrive, write to servicioalcliente@buz.com.mx or WhatsApp 56 5779 8626.

Step 7. Proceed

For most operators, simply showing the QR or barcode code on your phone is sufficient. Bring your official identification: it is required to board the bus.
