From Monterrey to Saltillo without stress (no parking fines either)

I make Monterrey–Saltillo so often that I’ve lost count of the parking fines I’ve saved since I stopped driving. It’s one of those trips that you do so often—work, family, errands—that it stops feeling like a trip and starts feeling like part of the routine. And that’s exactly where it’s worth simplifying.

Why this route is so common

Monterrey and Saltillo are close enough to go and return on the same day, which makes many people treat it more as a long urban commute than a trip. The problem is that doing this over and over again does wear you out: the traffic on the way out, finding a place to leave the car, and the stress of calculating the return with time in between.

The route connects the Monterrey Bus Terminal with the Saltillo Bus Terminal, which is covered by GEB.

How I organize my day

When it’s a round trip on the day, what I appreciate most is being able to choose the schedule based on the actual schedule — not based on when «it’s my turn» to leave. I compare the available departures on BUZ before committing to a time, and that way the truck adjusts to my meeting and not vice versa.

  • If the trip is a full day: I check the return trip before buying either ticket, so I don't get stuck waiting for the last truck.
  • If the trip can be completed in half a day: I leave extra time for the return — it’s always better to have more time at the terminal than to arrive running.
  • If I'm not sure what time I'll finish: I'd rather buy the one-way ticket right away and decide on the return trip while I'm there.

If you stay to sleep

Not all trips are one-way on the day. If instead of returning you decide to stay overnight on weekdays, the City Express by Marriott They are among the most practical options — simple, well-located and designed for short stays of work, not for a vacation you’re not taking. The simple account

I’m not going to tell you that driving is never a good idea — there are days when it is. But for the trip that repeats every week, switching from the car to the truck ended up being less about the money and more about not getting to the meeting already tired from fighting traffic on the way out of Monterrey.
